This week marks 25 episodes of the Claims Recruiter Office Hours weekly livestream. This has become the highlight of my week, every week. We started this stream with one goal: create educational content to help 100 job seekers level up in the insurance industry. So far we’ve helped 23 find jobs in 2026, a huge success in my opinion.
Market Pulse
A major personal lines carrier had large layoffs across the country this week. They aren’t the first and won’t be the last. I talked to 6 people in the past week who have recently been through the dreaded “RIF.” What sticks with me is not the layoff itself, but the way different companies and leaders handle these difficult moments.
One person walked away with a letter of recommendation from their CEO. Another was given company time to interview for their next role. Another found out from a fellow adjuster, who had received an email saying their own duties were about to increase.
People talk. How employers treat people is part of their company brand, and top candidates are paying attention.
Career Intel
This week on the livestream we had RESUMEPALOOZA. We did a deep dive on how to build a resume, the common mistakes I see every week, and a framework for telling your story in a way that actually lands. We also put ten resumes in front of the room with a real job opening and let the audience play recruiter, which was a blast.
From the Desk
A resume is no doubt important. It shows where a candidate has been, the experience they’ve gained, and the skills they’ve developed. But there is a lot it doesn’t show. A resume does not show how fast someone learns, how they handle a tough situation, or where their ceiling is.
This gap is where elite recruiters earn their keep. Reading that difference is a big part of the job. If you are hiring and tired of sorting through a stack of resumes trying to find the person who will actually raise the bar on your team, that is exactly what we help companies do every day. Right now we are deep in commercial auto, general liability, and specialty.
