There’s a scam targeting job seekers right now. A role I’m working. And a podcast listener shoutout. Let’s get into it.
Market Pulse
I’m currently working on an in-house claims supervisor seat at a self-insured organization in Orange County (CA). This is a great opportunity and a stepping stone into risk management.
Working claims for a self-insured company is one of the best pathways in this industry. You’re closer to the business, the files are yours end to end, and there’s usually a real ladder above you. You’d report to a senior risk leader looking to bring someone along, which is exactly how a GL adjuster grows into a risk management career over time. This seat is a gateway, not a ceiling.
This one is a fit for a GL adjuster carrying complex litigated files who’s ready for more than their own desk. Orange County, California, hybrid, $110K to $120K. Know who fits it? Send them my way.
Great at Claims, Not at Hiring?
I talk to a lot of claims managers and leadership teams, and I keep running into the same thing. They’re excellent at claims. Sourcing and finding good adjusters? Not so much. And that’s fair. It’s a completely different skill, and it’s not the job they signed up for.
That’s where we come in. If you’re a claims manager or leader scaling your team, KRU Talent Group is already working with a deep bench of skilled, qualified claims adjusters across a range of lines and experience levels. When you’re ready to add to your desk, you don’t have to start from scratch or wade through job board noise.
Reach out if you’re hiring, or even if you just want a read on what talent is out there right now. Reply to this email and let’s talk.
Career Intel
One of the things I constantly see online is the need for job seekers to “beat the ATS,” or optimize their resume so it can pass the ATS screening. There are people who specifically target job seekers on LinkedIn, send them messages requesting a resume, only to flip the script and try to sell resume services that will “beat the ATS.”
I put this to the test this week. I asked Claude to build me multiple resumes, with the same career path but one of them with the worst possible ATS format, and another with the best ATS format. I demonstrated this live on my weekly Claims Recruiter Office Hours livestream with the ATS that I use every day, only to show there is virtually no difference in what the computer reads with an “ATS optimized resume.”
If you’re a job seeker, you don’t need to write your resume for a robot. Tell your story clearly, line it up with what your target employers want, and put the energy you’d waste on keyword tricks into starting real conversations instead.
If you’re subscribed to this newsletter, chances are you already have my free resume template. But if you need it, just reply to this email and I’ll send it your way.
From the Desk
A real shoutout to Bailey this week. Congrats on the new job. You put in the work and it paid off, and it’s been awesome to watch. Thank you for being one of the people who shows up, supports the show, and helps make this community what it is. Wins like yours are exactly why I do this every week. Now go crush it, and keep me posted.
Until next week,
