That Somebody Is an Adjuster

Hey, it’s Josh. Huge week, with a heavy heart. Before we get into it, I have a favor to ask…

Help me build something: the 2026 Claims Adjuster Survey

I’m putting together real numbers about what adjusters actually earn, what workload looks like, and what motivates someone to make a move.

It’s completely anonymous. The survey doesn’t ask who you are, and only takes about 2 minutes.

If you’re an adjuster, thanks in advance for taking this quick survey!

A hard week across the Northwest

If you’re anywhere near the Pacific Northwest right now, you’re probably noticing something in the air.

Over the weekend, wildfires tore into Spokane. Around 700 structures gone. Roughly 65,000 people under evacuation orders. The mayor called it the worst natural disaster the region has ever faced.

Here in Oregon it’s a record year. The state just passed 1.99 million acres burned, with dozens of fires still going. The Grasshopper Fire pushed west and put Mt. Hood Meadows under a Level 3 go-now evacuation. That’s my mountain. Watching a place you love go under a go-now order is a gut punch, and there are thousands of families across two states feeling a much worse version of that today.

Many of these one of those “structures” will ultimately become a claim. Somebody is going to walk up to a burned-out lot, look a family in the eye on one of their worst days, and start the slow work of helping them rebuild. That somebody is an adjuster.

That’s why we do what we do. So to every adjuster reading this, thank you. Your work matters. What you do matters. The impact you have on people’s lives in their worst moments matters more than most people will ever see. We don’t say it enough.

Hiring headline, and what it means for you

The Workday lawsuit. Quick context if you missed it. Workday is getting sued over AI screening that allegedly rejected applicants based on age, race, and disability, and in June a judge let the core claims move forward. Here’s the interesting part. Workday is a software provider, but the lawsuit is pulling them into hiring decisions their customers made, not their own. I’m not saying Workday did anything wrong, I haven’t seen hard evidence either way. But if you’ve been told to beat the ATS, that advice was always thin, and now there are lawsuits showing AI screening carries real consequences. Companies aren’t taking humans out of hiring. So stop trying to trick the software and start being the person a human wants to talk to.

That’s it this week.

I go live every Tuesday at 11am Central on LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube. Come hang out and bring your questions.

If the show or anything I put out has helped you land something this year, hit reply or send me a DM. I’m keeping count, and I want to count you.

And if you’re an adjuster, take two minutes and fill out the survey, please.

Talk soon,
